Independent Software Engineer - Hamilton

Salary: $90,000 - 130,000 per year Requirements:

• We bring at least 2 years of experience in backend engineering, AI automation, or building complex integrated systems.
• We have demonstrated success developing and sustaining production-ready software with clear modular boundaries, such as separate services for parsing, business logic, and reporting.
• We are proficient in at least two major programming languages, such as Python, JavaScript, Go, or Java, and we are experienced with SQL databases.
• We have practical experience working in live, real-world environments rather than mocked setups, including multi-turn system interactions.
• We consistently show strong attention to detail and can deliver concise, high-signal technical feedback on sophisticated system behavior.
• We have experience designing multi-stage coordination workflows where data gathering leads to well-reasoned outputs.
• We are comfortable integrating agents with live tools and APIs such as Supabase and Gmail to solve practical problems.
• We understand how to implement persistent state and session tracking to monitor agent progress.
• We can identify subtle issues such as privacy leakage, authority escalation, and indirect prompt injection.

• We help train advanced generative systems by providing human feedback that improves AI agents.
• We contribute to the development of proactive, multi-step agents that can plan, coordinate, and optimize complex workflows.
• We support projects focused on teaching models how to design and manage real-world architectural processes.
• We evaluate system behavior in live environments and provide detailed feedback on performance and failure modes.
• We work on orchestration and integration tasks that connect agents with real tools, data sources, and APIs.
• We assess agent interactions across multiple turns and help refine how they maintain state and progress through tasks.
• We identify and report subtle technical risks, including security, privacy, and prompt-injection vulnerabilities.
