Job Category: Academic Staff Employment Type: Regular Job Profile: Outreach Program Manager Job Summary: The Wisconsin IceCube Particle Astrophysics Center (WIPAC) is a scientific center within the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. WIPAC research focuses on exploring the high-energy universe, including managing the operations of the IceCube Neutrino Observatory at the South Pole. Key Job Responsibilities: Manage education and outreach efforts for WIPAC and IceCube Provide strategic oversight of our education and outreach programs and event coordination activities, including relationship building with external organizations, ensuring appropriate staffing for programming, and compliance with UW policies Participate in grant writing and prepare presentations Interface with the IceCube collaboration on E&O and community activities Ensure delivery of broader impacts for grant proposals Supervise the Outreach Specialist and E&O student assistant(s) Determines outreach program needs and the personnel resource allocation plan - 10% May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees - 10% Supervises the implementation of outreach program-focused strategic planning initiatives and objectives - 40% Develops and implements operating policies and procedures to promote the outreach program in alignment with the strategic plan -15% Monitors the unit or program budget and approves program expenditures - 5% Reviews recommendations for and provides input on the design and development of new outreach programs or services - 10% Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members - 10% This position requires occasional weekend and evening hours. Thisposition requires occasional lifting/pushing/pulling up to 40 lbs. The selected applicant must provide a valid driver's license. Required Qualifications: Excellent written, oral, and personal communication skills Experience developing and presenting outreach programming At least 2 years of experience with supervision Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of physics Experience presenting to a variety of audiences, including groups of students Experience reporting and presenting metrics Experience writing grant proposals Experience working with the Office of Youth Protection Education: Bachelor's degree required. Preferably in communications, education, or related field.
