Responsibilities:
The Charlotte Lab School Interventionist will have responsibilities in support of Lab’s instructional vision:
Collaborate with the School Director and Head of Curriculum & Programs to support all current intervention/instructional initiatives;
Design lessons and instruct students in small group settings using research-based instructional methods and strategies designed to help close achievement gaps;
Review and analyze student data to inform instructional decisions, planning and goal-setting;
Evaluate and monitor student progress through standards-based data tracking;
Refer students to the EC Team based on the MTSS intervention process as needed;
Lead instructional blocks with students in various content areas at times;
Complete informal walkthroughs of instructional classrooms on a routine basis;
Hold informal debrief meetings with teachers following each informal walkthrough.
Inform families of student intervention support and progress
The Charlotte Lab School Interventionist will also have responsibilities in support of Lab’s wellness & culture vision:
Serve as an advisor to a small group of students; in this role:
Deliver a social-emotional skills curriculum;
Develop deep relationships with students in your advisory;
Develop and implement activities to build community within the advisory;
Serve as an advocate for advisees, for both academic and disciplinary reasons;
Provide regular updates and communication with advisees’ families;
Guide advisees in the preparation of their Student-Led Conferences each trimester;
Operate as liaison between advisees’ families and the school.
Charlotte Lab School employees will have responsibilities in support of Lab’s strategic vision:

Communicate frequently and regularly with colleagues;
Participate actively in Lab’s instructional planning and development efforts;
Participate actively in Lab’s performance evaluation process and ongoing professional development, specifically in the area of anti-racist practices;
Take on other responsibilities as needed, and as assigned, to ensure organizational success.
Qualifications:
Candidate MUST:
Be able/willing to learn how to fulfill the responsibilities listed above;
Hold a Bachelor's degree from a four year institution;
Have a least 3 years of full-time teaching or leading experience;
Possess strong classroom management, people management, and communication skills;
Are exceptionally organized and have ability to prioritize effectively and meet competing deadlines;
Demonstrate experience in, or passion for, leading diverse populations.
In addition, the Lab School Leadership Team will look favorably upon candidates who:
PREPARATION:
Are fully licensed or willing to obtain North Carolina K-5, 6-8 and/or 9-12 teacher or administrator licensure;
Have a least 5 years of full-time teaching or leading experience;
Have experience teaching and coaching relevant content area(s) and/or grade level(s);
Have an advanced degree in a related field;
Have comfort with technology and experience with Google Suite;
Have experience with standards based grading;
Have dual-certification to teach Elementary School students and:
Exceptional Children
Academically Gifted students
English as a Second Language;

Lift and carry classroom materials, instructional resources, and student work (up to 50 pounds) with or without accommodations

Use fine motor skills including writing, typing, and manipulating small objects
Hear and respond to student needs, questions, and behavioral issues
See clearly to monitor student work, write on boards, and read instructional materials
Speak clearly and project voice to be heard in classroom and group settings without amplification
Assist students with personal hygiene needs as appropriate (for primary grades)
Respond quickly to student safety emergencies and assist students in evacuation procedures
Transport students or materials as needed for instructional purposes
Use hand-eye coordination for writing, computer work, and classroom activities
Compensation
Charlotte Lab School offers competitive compensation commensurate with experience and education level using our compensation rubric. All salaries are determined pending verification of experience by our Finance/HR divisions and Board of Directors budget approval. Please note the following regarding use of the rubric:
Assistant, instructional, dean and counselor salaries (Grades 1-4) are determined based on 1 year credit for 1 year of teaching and/or other relevant experience. Increased pay for advanced degrees (which may include specialized leadership programs or certifications) is indicated above and paid on the basis on completion of qualifying programs.
Leadership salaries (Grades 5 and above) are determined based on 1 year credit for 1 year of leadership experience, and .5 year credit for each year of teaching experience. Advanced degrees are assumed, so not considered in this scale.
The position also includes medical insurance for the employee, with voluntary dental and vision plans, and spouse/family coverage. Lab also provides access to a Flexible Spending Account for health and childcare expenses and an opportunity to contribute to a 403b retirement plan. Employees have the opportunity to earn 10 PTO days each year (1/month). Full time Charlotte Lab School faculty members also receive priority in the student admissions process.
