**D.R. Horton, Inc.* is currently looking for a Litigation Attorney *. The right candidate will support the company’s business objectives, defend and pursue its legal interests. Pursue alternative resolution methods using arbitration or mediation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Manage litigation matters, including oversight and collaboration with outside counsel
• Perform initial Case Investigation and Assessment
• Assist in responding to discovery requests, subpoenas, government inquiries, and regulatory investigationsAdvise internal stakeholders and senior management on legal risks associated with business activities and proposed courses of action
• Work collaboratively with other members of the legal team, as well as cross-functional teams across the organization, to achieve strategic objectives, manage legal risks effectively, and effect resolution among all parties
• Locate and take preliminary statements from witnesses, reviewing documents, client interviews and investigation of relevant events leading up to the dispute
• Actively drive cases to resolution and participate in mediations and settlement conferencesMaintain and update matter management systems, including opening matters, tracking status, managing budgets, and reporting on outcomes
• Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits required to maintain licensure
• Maintain current knowledge of legal developments, trends, and best practices relevant to the organization’s business
• Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
• Ability to travel overnight

Education and/or Experience

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and current license to practice law is required
• Minimum of 5 years of litigation experience
• Ability to negotiate and litigate cases effectively
• Strong knowledge of relevant laws and regulations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective representation and the ability to provide clear and concise business-focused legal advice
• Proficiency in legal drafting for the preparation of contracts, pleadings, and briefs
• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills for case analysis
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team of attorneys
• Ability to multitask, work independently and carry out important projects with limited oversight
• Flexibility to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and a desire for learning new areas of law and regulation in a variety of jurisdictions
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
• Proficiency with MS Office and email
• Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
• The noise level is generally moderate

Preferred Qualifications

• First Chair trial experience a plus

• Experience handling mediations and arbitrations
