Phlebotomist | Wildlight| Full-Time| Days

Overview Perform various laboratory support functions that include phlebotomy/venipuncture and specimen processing. Responsible for review of test requisitions, ensuring accuracy and inclusion of complete billing information. Ensures proper specimen/patient processing and maintains patient logs. Provides consistent excellent customer service, including reporting of patient lab work. Performs clerical duties, responds to telephone/fax requests, and generally assists customers in any way necessary. Responsibilities Verify physician's orders and identify patients at the draw station according to established procedures prior to specimen collection. Perform venipuncture/specimen collection according to established procedures. Prepare specimens for testing, including proper patient identification and centrifugation when appropriate. Prepare and bag specimens at the draw station according to established guidelines for delivery to the testing facility. Assist in various preparatory techniques throughout the laboratory as assigned. Follow PPE procedures and all safety protocols for specimens. Complete mandatory training and adhere to policies, procedures, time and attendance guidelines, core values, and confidentiality agreement, and may be assigned other duties within job scope. Assist in the training of new employees. Maintain a positive, customer-service oriented disposition toward all patients and co-workers; provide excellent customer service with internal and external patients. Qualifications Experience Requirements: Requires completion of phlebotomy training program; 2 years related field – phlebotomy and specimen processing preferred. Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Certificates / Licensure: Phlebotomy Certification required at time of hire; American Red Cross or American Heart Association BLS required at time of hire.
