Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 4x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00); Day 4x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:00) Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a relevant setting License: New York license required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must have New York license in hand - no exceptions. First-time travelers accepted with experience in patient ratio requirement. Charge experience required. Epic charting experience required. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a high-volume Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit. The nurse will manage a patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7. The role involves monitoring telemetry patients and responding to rapid response and code teams. Responsibilities include management of temporary and permanent pacemakers, feeding tubes, blood product administration, central line care and phlebotomy. Essential skills include starting and maintaining IVs, heparin protocols, and care for orthopedic trauma and total joint replacements. Additional duties involve managing surgical drains, high-flow nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy management. Knowledge of isolation precautions and wound care is also required. This unit cares for complex long-term patients, including those with orthopedic overflow.
