About the Position

Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum of 2 Years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Ability to work every other weekend and every third holiday Description: This position is for a registered nurse in a stepdown unit. The nurse will care for adult and geriatric patients with various medical conditions. Common diagnoses include cardiac issues, nephrology, strokes, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring. Ratios of nurse to patients are typically 1:4-5. Nurses are required to titrate drips, including medications such as Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications. A charge nurse is present on each shift to provide support, but will also have an assignment. There are patient care technicians on the unit, with a ratio of 1:10 or 2:20. Floating may be required to medical floors, ICU, or rehabilitation. The first week includes onboarding, followed by 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation. This is a fast-paced environment. Successful candidates should possess a positive attitude, strong communication skills, critical thinking ability, and problem-solving skills. Artificial nails are not permitted in any patient care setting, and refusal to comply may lead to termination. Candidates must not be currently employed in any full-time, part-time, or PRN capacity within any affiliated facilities. A driver's license will be necessary for identification purposes. RTO (request for time off) needs to be disclosed upfront, and additional requests will not be accommodated. The facility reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts over the duration of the assignment. Charting will be conducted using an electronic system. ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications are required to qualify for the position.
