Job Title: Complex Claims Specialist Job Type: Permanent Locations: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Hartford, NYC, or Scottsdale Reporting To: AVP – Team Manager Overview The Complex Claims Specialist independently analyzes General Liability claim submissions, establishes case reserves, and drives early resolution of claims. The role includes local defense counsel coordination, business development, and product insight sessions. Key Responsibilities Strategize and maximize early settlement opportunities for General Liability claims (BI & PD) Draft and review coverage analyses Monitor litigation/suits and manage local defense counsel relationships Assess exposures and adequacy of claim reserves continuously Lead high exposure claims management within the team Attend mediations and/or settlement conferences as required Prepare and present quarterly reserving packs Participate actively in the Claims/UW/Actuarial feedback loop Maintain accurate file documentation in the claims management system Keep senior claims management informed of key issues Personal Specification JD from an ABA‑accredited law school Bar admission in good standing Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in General Liability with an insurance carrier or litigation experience in General Liability Litigation and mediation experience Ability to analyze liability and potential damages exposure Experience monitoring outside counsel and negotiating allocation issues Experience drafting or reviewing litigation budgets Experience recommending or setting reserves Ability to handle large volume of claims or litigation matters Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong ability to build rapport and relationships with clients Team‑oriented with ability to excel in a collegial environment Leadership and people‑management skills Less than 10% travel required Benefits Competitive salary and bonus (based on personal & company performance) Salary range: $115,000 – $130,000 401(k) with competitive company matching Comprehensive health, vision, dental and FSA plans Company‑paid group term life, short‑term disability and long‑term disability coverage 24 paid time off days, 2 company days, 10 paid holidays, and ability to purchase 5 PTO days Paid parental leave 4‑week paid sabbatical after every 5 years of service Annual reimbursement up to $600 for health club membership or fitness program fees Company‑paid subscription to Headspace for mental health support Hybrid work model – requires 2 days in office weekly Equal Opportunity Statement Hiscox is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds. #J-18808-Ljbffr HICIX Hiscox Insurance Company Inc.
