City/State: White Plains, New York Department: EMS Critical Care Work Shift: Day Work Days: ROTATING SCHEDULE Scheduled Hours: 7 AM-7 PM Hours Per Pay Period: 80 Pay Rate/Range: Contractual Job Summary White Plains Hospital is seeking a full‑time Intensivist Physician for its Critical Care service line. The Intensivist will collaborate closely with Advanced Practice Practitioners in a 24‑hour, 7‑day‑a‑week model, managing a mix of Medical, Surgical, Neurologic and Cardiac cases, procedures, and codes. Pulmonary consultation opportunities may be available for BE/BC physicians. The ICU promotes an environment of collaboration and support for the multidisciplinary team and patients. Essential Functions Understand and adhere to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors Coordinate the care (evaluation, treatment, admission, and discharge) of patients admitted with neurologic and general critical illness Communicate with patients, family, consulting physicians, and hospital staff regarding patient status with adequate frequency Provide education for staff and patients/family Oversee activities of Advanced Practice Providers (NPs & PAs) in the ICU Institute immediate appropriate intervention in life or disability‑threatening emergencies Document evaluation of and treatment given to all patients; provide discharge instructions orally and in writing; give referring physician verbal and written report upon patient discharge Work assigned shifts and stay on the Hospital Campus when on‑shift Attend all relevant professional meetings scheduled for the Department Participate in chart review and organized activities to reduce length of stay and improve quality outcomes Participate in institutional initiatives such as disaster planning and response, environment of care/safety, risk management, etc. Perform all other related duties as assigned Qualifications MD or DO Teamwork & Adaptability Professional Role Model Assessment Skills Excellent Communication Skills (both verbal and written) Attention to Detail Planning & Organizing Sound Problem‑Solving, Judgment and Decision‑Making Skills Stress Tolerance Experience managing patients with acute and unstable neurologic injury Effective communication in writing and verbally; legible handwriting Sufficient manual dexterity and eye‑hand coordination for all procedures, techniques and skills listed in privileges Ability to position self to assess and care for patients, and perform required procedures Compliance with CME Requirements (Hospital, Regional, State, and Federal) ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support – American Heart Association required upon hire MD Doctor of Medicine – New York State Equal Employment Opportunity White Plains Hospital Medical Center is an equal employment opportunity employer.
