Job Summary United American Indian Involvement, Inc. (UAII) is seeking an experienced Board‑Certified Physician to serve as a clinical leader responsible for delivering high‑quality primary and preventive care while providing oversight and guidance to clinic staff. The physician will support UAII’s mission by advancing culturally responsive healthcare for American Indian and Alaska Native communities and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and organizational standards. Reports to: Executive Director, Healthcare. Essential Functions Provide leadership and oversight for all healthcare clinic staff. Ensure alignment with UAII’s mission, Indigenous values, and organizational priorities. Provide medical services to the patients of CCHC, including all functions necessary to deliver quality care. Stabilize and refer patients presenting for urgent care, regardless of typical scope of practice. Assume responsibility for patients assigned to another provider when that provider is unavailable. Complete patient charts to accepted medical practice standards and meet record‑keeping requirements. Assist in obtaining lab specimens when difficulties arise. Complete administrative projects assigned by the Executive Director. Maintain medical license, board certification, and hospital admitting privileges. Participate in the on‑call schedule as designated by the Clinic Supervisor. Serve as preceptor for medical students, nurse practitioners, physician assistant students, and residents as assigned. Follow all medical office policy and procedure manuals. Supervise mid‑level providers on family or internal medicine and state regulatory requirements. Comply with HIPAA, HRSA/FQHC, OSHA, and state/federal regulations. Advise administration of any issues that may impact the practice. Perform related duties assigned by the Executive Director. Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience) Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited medical school. Completed accredited residency program. Board certification or board‑eligible in a specialty. Unrestricted license to practice in California. Valid DEA registration. PALS or NRP; ACLS may be required. Experience working in an Urban Indian Organization (UIO) or Tribal health program. Familiarity with Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (DMH) and Department of Public Health (DPH) systems. Experience with EHR systems, especially eClinicalWorks (eCW). Knowledge of Indigenous governance, community engagement, and culturally informed care models. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies Advanced knowledge of medical principles, procedures, methods, and techniques. Advanced knowledge of medical diagnosis practices. Maintain valid medical and DEA licenses, CME requirements, etc. Explain complex medical conditions to patients with no medical background. Analytical skill to review symptoms and test results and determine diagnosis and treatment. Strong interpersonal communication with patients and families. Stay current with new medical techniques and equipment. Use sound medical judgment and adhere to ethical practice standards. Recognize limitations and seek consultation as needed. Meet productivity benchmarks such as HEDIS and UDS, patient satisfaction, and provider productivity. Efficiently schedule patients and respond to emergencies. Leadership competencies: team development, cultural humility, decision‑making, conflict resolution, stakeholder collaboration. Be punctual for scheduled appointments unless exceptional circumstances arise.
