Payroll Lead

Location: Tampa, FL: Hybrid — 3 days in office per week Key Responsibilities: Process and support high-volume payroll for a large, multi-state employee population. Ensure payroll is accurate, timely, and compliant with federal, state, and local requirements. Research and resolve multi-state payroll tax and compliance issues. Stay current on changes to state payroll laws, tax regulations, and withholding requirements. Troubleshoot complex payroll discrepancies and work with internal teams to resolve issues. Manage and review payroll tax information across multiple jurisdictions and tax IDs. Use advanced Excel for payroll reporting, reconciliations, audits, and analysis. Serve as a senior resource to the payroll team on complex payroll matters. Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, accuracy, and compliance. Work closely with payroll leadership on escalations and special projects. Qualifications: 3+ years of corporate payroll experience. Hands-on experience with multi-state payroll taxes AND payroll laws/regulations. Experience processing payroll for 1,000+ employees. Strong understanding of federal and state payroll tax compliance. Advanced Excel skills — formulas, PivotTables, lookups, reporting, and reconciliations. Ability to research and interpret different state payroll laws and regulations.
