Human Resources Director

Job Summary

The Human Resources Director plans, directs, develops, and coordinates all Human Resources activities for the facility. This position partners closely with the Administrator and department leaders to ensure compliance with employment laws, attract and retain top talent, and support the organization's mission through effective people strategies.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Administrator and department leaders to support staffing, recruitment, retention, employee engagement, and workforce planning.

• Manage the full-cycle recruitment process, including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and orientation of new employees.

• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as company policies and procedures.

• Oversee employee relations, conduct investigations, resolve workplace concerns, and provide coaching to managers.

• Administer employee benefits, leave of absence programs, workers' compensation, and unemployment claims.

• Coordinate and maintain personnel files, HR records, licensure tracking, and required documentation.

• Support performance management processes, employee recognition programs, corrective action, and policy enforcement.

• Plan and facilitate employee training, mandatory education, and ongoing professional development initiatives.

• Monitor staffing trends and turnover, providing recommendations to improve retention and employee satisfaction.

• Collaborate with corporate Human Resources on compliance initiatives, audits, and organizational projects.

• Maintain confidentiality of employee information and HR records.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

• Minimum of three to five years of Human Resources leadership experience required.

• Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility, long-term care, post-acute care, or healthcare setting strongly preferred.

• Knowledge of federal and Illinois employment laws and HR best practices.

• HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR) is preferred.

• Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and employee relations experience.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
