About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgical Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a Surgical ICU setting License: Active nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Experience with cardiac monitoring - Central Venous Pressure Monitoring - Post cardiac surgery care - Pre/Post cardiac catheter interventions - Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy - IV Therapy including blood product administration and central line management - Chest tube insertion and removal - Care of ventilated patients - Epic experience Description: Travelers should be prepared for the possibility of being assigned to an emergency team. There will be an expectation to remain on-site during emergency events if assigned. Details regarding pay during emergencies will be provided as necessary. Please apply only if you are comfortable with this expectation. Candidates must be willing to work 2 of the 4 designated holiday periods annually, including Thanksgiving and Christmas. Weekend shifts will be expected every other week. Floating to other ICUs and Surgical Decision Units may be necessary. The patient ratio is 1:2 on this unit. The unit cares for a range of patients, including those recovering from cardiac and transplant surgeries. Additional experience with liver, kidney, or pancreas transplant recovery is preferred. High acuity ICU experience and LVAD/RVAD management is a plus. Candidates should possess ability to manage various critical care procedures and technologies. References from supervisors or managers may be needed for clearance to start the contract. Please keep in mind that previous staff members must be separated for one year before returning. Modules will be completed during orientation and are billable.
