Location: Jersey City, New Jersey (On-site)

Role Overview

This role is responsible for hands-on application development to support current and target processes. The position involves partnering with multiple technology teams to implement the target architecture and support migration to a strategic platform. This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of three days per week on-site.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform end-to-end Java application development.
• Develop solutions using multi-threading, collections API, and JDBC.
• Utilize frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, JPA, and Hibernate.
• Design and implement solutions with a strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Tune data-intensive applications, identify performance improvements, and implement memory optimizations.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases, as well as data integration and transformation tools.
• Incorporate new sources of real-time, streaming, and batch data.
• Manage large data sets in Hadoop and compute complex logic in Spark platforms.
• Optimize data pipelines and queries for performance and scalability.
• Lead and mentor other members of the data engineering team.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 9+ years of experience in end-to-end Java application development.

Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or any quantitative discipline is required.

Technical Skills:

• Core Java, including multi-threading, collections API, and JDBC.
• Frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, JPA, and Hibernate.
• SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Big data technologies and frameworks such as Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, Apache Hive, or Apache Flink.
• Performance profiling and tuning of data-intensive applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in enterprise stress testing.
• Knowledge of risk (credit, operational, and market).
• Experience working within a Hadoop or other big data distributed ecosystem.
• Knowledge of cloud computing or distributed computing.
• 5+ years of experience in Java UI technologies such as HTML5, Angular JS, Backbone JS, or Bootstrap.
• Experience with software development in an Agile environment.
