Duran Elementary School Have or be eligible for a valid Maine teaching certification with 282 Teacher of Students with Disabilities (02-GRADES K-8) endorsement Deep understanding of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices Knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and compliance Strong collaboration skills with families and multidisciplinary teams Patient, compassionate, and creative approach to teaching young children with diverse needs Preferred: Pre-K special education experience, training in ABA/PBIS, knowledge of assistive technology Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Committee may find appropriate and acceptable. Job Goal Create a nurturing, developmentally appropriate classroom where young learners with special needs can explore, play, and grow Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) using evidence-based practices and hands- on learning Collaborate with families, related service providers (OT, PT, speech), and specialists to provide comprehensive support Conduct assessments, monitor progress, and celebrate each child's unique achievements Lead IEP meetings with empathy, ensuring families feel heard and empowered The position will remain open until a qualified candidate is found.
