Maintenance Technician I


As a Maintenance Technician, this position will support production expansion as need. This position is involved with all aspects of maintenance at the facility, including troubleshooting automation equipment and sensors (PLCs), industrial electric systems, motors, bearings/gears, and other systems and components. Our team also does occasional fabrication and welding work.To succeed, you must be able to:

Your responsibilities:

• Provide preventative and on-demand maintenance on all plant systems during assigned shift.
  
• Work in a safe and professional manner with SAFETY always being the top priority.
  
• Comply with GMP, HACCP and Regulatory mandates.
  
• Ensure all proper documentation is completed and filed appropriately
  
• Be familiar with equipment and operations within the entire facility.
  
• Perform housekeeping and sanitation duties as related to work areas.
  
• Troubleshoot problems and correct them in a timely and most economical manner.
  
• Remain on 24-hour standby for emergency maintenance calls as scheduled.
  
• Be able to prioritize maintenance issues and correct them efficiently.
  

Essential skills and experience:

• High School Diploma
  
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
  
• Must be able to work shifts as assigned
  
• Maintain good work attendance
  
• Able to work with minimum supervision, self motivated
  
• Able to troubleshoot mechanical systems by working with operations and/or utilizing outside resources.
  
• Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and other reference materials.
  
• Able to understand the operating context of site assets and how they impact production.
  
• Ability to prioritize, coordinate and accomplish multiple tasks.
  
• Proficient in English both written and verbally.
  
• Proficient in computer tools including email and spreadsheets.
  

Good to have:

• Associates Degree in a technical field, either a mechanical or electrical discipline.
  
• Experience with plant automation systems (PLCs, Variable Frequency Drives, Electrical, Mechanical systems).
  
• Experience with OSHA, food safety rules, and regulations.
  
• Experience with electrical installations and wiring practices.
  
• Experience in repairing and troubleshooting sensing and control devices.
  
• Working knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies (vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasonics, motor testing, etc.).
  
• Experience with precision maintenance techniques (sheave alignment, belt tensioning, fastener torque, balancing, etc.).
  
• Demonstrates an effective ability to teach/coach others.
  
• Experience working in a team environment.
  
• Experience with plant floor automation, office Ethernet, DeviceNet, and Controlnet wiring preferred but not required.
  
• Understanding of plant electrical systems.
  
• Understanding of electrical safety regulation, NFPA 70E, and NEC regulation.
  
• Assesses own strengths and weaknesses, pursues training and development opportunities, strives to continuously build knowledge and skills, and shares expertise with others.
  

Physical requirements and working conditions (with or without reasonable accommodation):

• Willing and able to work in a plant environment that at times, may be dusty, include temperature extremes, involve climbing, heavy lifting, and other forms of physical exertion.
  
• Willing and able to work with wheat products, dust, i.e. no wheat /gluten sensitivity, intolerance and/or allergies.
  

Other considerations:

• This role provides the opportunity to network internally and externally within the industry, our customers, and vendors. This provides development to grow in the Maintenance and Reliability field.
  
• Must help support the asset health and reliability within the plant.
  
• Must help support the maintenance and reliability process.
  
  

Team members must be clean shaven in order to perform tasks where respiratory protection is required and the use of a respirator (including N-95 dust mask) requires a proper seal for adequate protection.
