Your impact At Jacobs, we’re transforming intangible ideas into innovative solutions designing the future - today. As a Mid-Level Electrical Engineer based out of Sacramento, California, you will prepare detailed electrical detailed electrical power systems design for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump station rehabilitation, and greenfield projects with minimum supervision. You will work with project managers, design staff including electrical engineers, cost estimators, designers, drafters, and other engineering disciplines to provide quality work on schedule and within budget. We partner across the globe to create the best project outcomes by maximizing the design, digital technology, and support capabilities of our Global Integrated Delivery (GID) teammates. You will engage with these teams to deliver solutions to our clients. Let's see the big impacts we can make, together.Responsibilities of a Mid-Level Electrical Engineer include but are not limited to:Designing of electrical systems for water and wastewater conveyance and treatment facilitiesPreparing contract documents for plans, specifications, and cost estimates for projectsElectrical systems include low- and medium-voltage power distribution, lighting, emergency power systems, UPS, and batteries. Applying knowledge of commonly used electrical engineering and design concepts, principles, best practices, codes, and guidelines related to electrical engineering industryEngaging several different assignments simultaneously.Developing basis of design report, One-Line Diagrams, Motor Control Diagrams, Panel Schedules, Conduit Routing, Load Calculations, and Voltage Drop Calculations as well coordinate with the Electric Utility Company for new services as needed.Utilizing lighting software to perform calculations and provide photometrics.Performing power system studies for electrical systems including load flow, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash and competent in equipment sizing, grounding, and relay coordination.Engaging in quality control and quality assurance of electrical engineering plans, specifications, and estimates in the water marketPerforming field visits and conduct site investigations for public and private clients.Providing services during construction including submittal reviews, response to Contractor’s request for information, review and approval of change orders, and preparation of record drawings.Collaborating with multi-discipline teams across multiple office locations.Mentoring junior staffAbility to work and thrive in a team environment.Strong problem-solving Ability to self-motivate and work productively without supervision.All other duties as assigned. Here's what you'll need Bachelor’s degree in Electrical EngineeringRegistered California Professional Electrical Engineer (PE) with ability to reciprocate as needed8-10 years of experience in an electrical engineering role related to water, wastewater or similar industrial experienceWorking knowledge of Word and ExcelWorking knowledge of of AGi32 or Visual Lighting SoftwareWorking knowledge of SKM or ETAP Experience working with Permitting review agenciesStrong time management skillsStrong understanding of NEC and NFPA 820Familiarity with IEEE color book seriesStrong analytical, conceptual, problem solving and organizational skillsAbility to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and managementAbility to work and thrive in a team environmentAbility to self-motivate and work independently with minimal supervisionIdeally, you'll also have:Master’s degree in Electrical EngineeringExperience in designing and delivering municipal water and wastewater treatment projects via different delivery methods (design-bid-build, design-build, or other alternatives)Knowledge of Bluebeam RevuKnowledge of AutoCAD and/or Microstation Knowledge of Revit MEPKnowledge of Title 24 compliance for electrical distribution and lightingField investigative and startup experienceOur health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you, and in the things you care about.
