COLLECTIONS AGENT BUSINESS COUNSELOR

: TCM Bank is in Tampa, FL. This is a remote opportunity. If living outside of the area, travel expectations would be at least 4 times (overnight travel) per year. Summary The Business Counselor will handle outbound or inbound calls at any stage of business delinquency, up to and including Charged-off accounts. Contacts delinquent or high-risk business customers (as well as delinquent high credit limit consumer cardholders) to determine the reason for delinquency and secure payments on active/inactive credit card accounts. The Business Counselor will work with customers to establish full balance repayment plans, including hardships, workouts, and re-ages. This role is designed to proactively address delinquent business accounts, reduce monthly aging, and charge off losses. This role will also prepare accounts for legal actions and agency assignments for short- and long-term recovery. The individual conducts thorough investigations that prepare accounts and provides insights and recommendations for post-charge-off recovery on accounts worked with the department Lead or Supervisor. Work requires judgment, initiative, tact, and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. At times will work through ambiguous or complex situations. supervision is received in policy and interpretive matters. Duties & Responsibilities:

• Make calls to aging delinquent businesses or large credit limit consumer cardholders to ascertain the reason for delinquency and establish payment plans to cure account delinquency.
• Establish and maintain rapport with habitually delinquent business cardholders. and/or accounts in hardship/workout programs.
• Tactfully educate the cardholders of potential actions surrounding defaults.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date information on customer interactions.
• Use problem-solving techniques to help overcome cardholder objections to secure payments to resolve delinquent accounts.
• Negotiate suitable pay arrangements while stressing urgency and follow up as needed.
• Work with AVP Collections to continually refine the performance monitoring tools used on the business card and large credit limit consumer portfolio.
• Provide feedback to AVP on high-risk accounts with a resolution strategy for pre- and post-charge off.
• Adhere to Collection Policies and follow established procedures (i.e. Collection, Operating, Recovery, etc.).
• Comply with appropriate regulations (i.e. Fair Debt Collection Practices Act [FDCPA], Fair Credit Reporting Act [FCRA], and Equal Credit Opportunity Act - a.k.a. REG. B [ECOA], Service Members Civil Relief Act [SCRA], Bankruptcy Reform Act [BRA], etc.).
• Leverage Agent Bank Relationships where appropriate to achieve success in collection efforts.
• Keep current with the activities and pronouncements of the CFPB and ensure that the Bank's collection activities foster compliance with these activities/pronouncements.
• Provides backup to Collection Clerical, Collection Counselor and assists Collection Lead or Supervisor as needed.
• Determines the most effective and economical collection methods for each account.
• When appropriate, will negotiate settlements with businesses, consumers, and Debt Consolidation Companies.
• Assist in the collection efforts of late-stage consumer delinquencies as needed.
• Perform monthly reconciliations on invoices presented by outside collection and/or recovery agencies (consumer and small business-related) as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or its equivalent. Some college experience is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 to 7 years work experience in a general business atmosphere with 3 to 5 years work on business loan collections.
• Experienced in delivering a high level of customer service using effective professional communication skills.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of consumer and business collection practices, techniques, and procedures.
• Above average understanding of and work experience within the financial services industry is strongly preferred.
• Must have intermediate skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Highly organized with excellent attention to detail; effective interpersonal skills; timely completion of all tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate to build successful relationships.
