Now Hiring Tool & Die Maker / Journeyman Toolmaker MDS Staffing is seeking an experienced Tool & Die Maker for a privately held metals manufacturing company. Position Summary As a Grade-A Toolmaker, you'll fabricate, assemble, maintain, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures for manufacturing operations. This role requires advanced machining skills, blueprint expertise, and the ability to deliver high-quality work efficiently and cost-effectively. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and modify complex tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures for the stamping process. Operate CNC and manual machines (mills, lathes, grinders, surface grinders). Interpret and work from detailed blueprints, CAD models, and technical drawings. Apply knowledge of tolerances, materials, and geometric dimensions. Assemble, test, and troubleshoot tooling to ensure optimal performance. Perform regular tool maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime. Collaborate with production, design, and engineering teams to improve tooling processes. Conduct inspections using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, CMM, etc.). Mentor junior toolmakers and machinists. Follow all company safety standards and participate in production meetings. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (technical school/apprenticeship preferred). 510 years of hands-on experience in toolmaking or precision machining. Advanced skills in manual and CNC machining. Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and blueprint reading. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. High precision and attention to detail. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work in a physically active role. Strong communication skills and ability to train others. Why Join Us?
