Safety Specialist

The Safety Specialist ensures that all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, including State and Federal regulations, are adhered to by the assigned project leadership personnel. They provide or identify safety-related training, oversee construction safety norms, answer non-routine correspondence, and assemble highly confidential information. Duties & Responsibilities – Essential Functions Perform Construction Site and Safety Audits, i.e., Adams Project Site Safety Inspection. Participate actively in project handoff programs and processes, including project site preparation and acclimating to the project team. Provide communication and documentation of inspections, suggesting necessary corrective measures via Adams information systems. Conduct quality control inspections of assigned field leadership personnel to ensure all safety forms and inspections are adhered to. Ensure assigned projects are adequately equipped with safety apparatus, PPE, potable water, latrines, first aid, etc. Provide consultation and advice to field leadership and assist in maintaining a safe working environment by complying with safety regulations, practices, and standards. Assist superiors in enforcing the safety policy and environmental health guidelines. Train assigned project site personnel on various health and safety topics. Provide direct technical surveillance and testing services as required. Enforce and implement Adams Safety policies and procedures. Perform scheduled Site Safety Audits as needed or upon request from Senior Field Safety Manager, management, general contractors or the Senior Risk Control Director. Assist leadership personnel with incident and "near miss" investigations. Provide in‑house training for Adams employees including OSHA 10‑ & 30‑hour courses, First Aid/CPR/AED, scissor lift, forklift, aerial boom lift, fall protection, powder‑acted tool, confined space, heat stress, NFPA 70E, ladder safety and power‑driven tools. Record, file and distribute training certifications for all trainees. Attend all Safety meetings required by Adams, general contractors and owners while representing Adams professionally. External Relationships Develop relationships and build trust with field associates, project managers, trade contractors, and others involved in project activities. Maintain professional relationships with client contacts to assure satisfaction with Adams’s Safety Program. Job Specifications (knowledge, skills, and abilities) In‑depth knowledge of Adams Electric Company Environmental, Health, and Safety Manual. In‑depth knowledge of OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1926 and 29 CFR 1910). Strong working knowledge of the NFPA 70E manual. Skilled at creating, filing, maintaining, and disposing of personnel and company records. Proficient in web/database safety and training programs. Proficient in writing internal and external correspondence. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint). Ability to focus, organize, and prioritize essential functions to meet deadlines. Ability to foster teamwork skills. Demonstrated professional communication skills. Ability to adapt to sudden demands. Ability to present to and train large and small groups regularly. Education, Experience, and Prerequisites Meets NFPA 70e – Electrical Safety Qualified Person criteria. At least two years of work experience in safety coordination at a major construction site.
