About the Job The Institute for Social Research and Data Innovation at theUniversity of Minnesota is hiring a Post-Doctoral Associate. Thesuccessful candidate for this position will work under thesupervision of UMN co-leads for the NIA-supported GECC project . Theposition will entail developing guidance around the creation anduse of residential histories and creating measures of safety andemergency services. RESPONSIBILITIES The postdoctoral associate will collaborate with UMN co-leads andthe GECC team to develop measures and guidance to advance ourunderstanding of the AD/ADRD exposome and to disseminate thisinformation via dataset creation and the development, writing,presentation, and publishing of articles that describe theseefforts, among other responsibilities. The specific focus of theresearch will be decided in collaboration with UMN co-leads and theGECC team, but will generally focus on residential histories andcommunity services, especially safety and emergency services. Aspart of these efforts, the postdoctoral associate will meet withUMN co-leads and/or other members of the GECC team once per week invirtual and/or in-person meetings to coordinate research anddissemination activities. The successful candidate will also engage more generally in ISRDI’srich interdisciplinary intellectual environment. This may includeattending research seminars and workshops; participating in LCC/MPCresearch development programming; developing professionalconnections with other projects based at ISRDI; and otheractivities at ISRDI. Appointment Details: This is a 100%, 12-month, annually renewable appointment. Thecandidate will start between July 2026 and August 2026, withcontinuation up to two more years based on available funding andperformance. The successful candidate would devote 90% of their effort tocollaborative and independent research related to the GECC and 10%of their time to other independent and collaborative research(e.g., publishing dissertation articles, other ongoingprojects). Flexible Work Profile This position has been designated as eligible for flexible workprofile(s) [type of work profile 1-4. Profile 1, Office Lab-Based - is expected to work primarilyon-site in the office/lab. Only occasionally and inconsistentlyworking remotely. Your office will be located in 50 Willey Hall,225 19th Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55445. Profile 2, Regularly Remote - is expected to work in theoffice/lab at least 3 days per week. Typically working remotely 1-2days per week. Your office will be located in 50 Willey Hall, 22519th Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55445. Profile 3, Mostly Remote - is expected to typically work in theoffice/lab 1-2 days per week. Working remotely at least 3 days perweek. Your dedicated office space will be in your remote worklocation. Profile 4, Fully Remote - Only occasionally visiting theoffice. Typically spends 4 or less days per month working in theoffice/lab on average. Your dedicated office space will be in yourremote work location. ISRDI management retains the right to modify flexible workarrangement agreements on a temporary or permanent basis for anyreason at any time. Qualifications Required Qualifications ● Doctoral degree in a field relevant to geospatial datascience ● Strong record of scholarly publication ● Strong data management and geospatial skills, with programmingexperience with Python, R, or similar ● Excellent English skills for academic writing ● Ability to advance science independently and also as part ofcollaborative teams ● Interest in fostering an inclusive environment and appreciationof differences in the workplace ● The selected candidate must have, or be able to acquire, SpecialSworn Status, to work in the Federal Statistical Research DataCenter (FSRDC), of the Census Bureau Preferred Qualifications ● Research experience or interest examining the long-term effectsof contexts (e.g. social, environmental, policy) on health andwell-being ● Experience with safety and emergency services data andmeasures ● Knowledge of and experience managing changing geographicboundaries in the U.S. ● Experience working with a variety of kinds of data (e.g.,geospatial, social, and/or environmental data) ● Experience working in highly interdisciplinary workinggroups About the Department This postdoctoral position is hosted within the Institute for Social Research and DataInnovation (ISRDI) at the University of Minnesota, which hasmore than 200 faculty, research staff, and student affiliates fromtwo dozen academic units.
