Description: 36 hours or 48 hours available. 2 years of ICU experience needed. LTAC ICU - Days. BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications required. LTAC experience preferred. Charge experience preferred. 1 year of experience required with Epic charting system. Community hospital experience preferred. Trauma Level I and II experience preferred. Skills required include: Antiarrhythmics, anticoagulation therapy, and antihypertensives. ARDS and arterial line management. AV-shunt/fistula care and bladder retraining. Blood glucose monitoring and blood product administration. Central line care/management and chest tubes. Chronic/acute renal failure and complex wound care. Continuous bladder irrigation and continuous IV sedation. COVID management and CVA (cerebrovascular accident) care. Diabetic ketoacidosis management and emergency medications. Foley catheter insertion and GI bleed management. Infection prevention and interpretation of arterial blood gases. Isolation precautions/PPE and IV insulin protocols. IV vasopressors and liver failure management. Management of dysrhythmias and modes of ventilation (CV, CMV, A/C, SIMV, PS, PC, IRV +/- PEEP). Nephrostomy tube management and neuromuscular disease care. NG tube insertion/management and obtaining 12 lead EKG/ECG. Ostomy care and pancreatitis management. Peritoneal dialysis/CAPD management and PICC line management. Pneumonia management and post MI care. Suctioning (ETT, NT) and use of thrombolytic agents. Titration of insulin drips and tracheostomy care/management. Tube feedings (gravity/syringe/pump) and vent training for home. Weaning from mechanical ventilation and management of traumatic brain injury. Staffing and scheduling may include floating as needed. Daily census is approximately 35 patients. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, and pharmacy. Patient diagnoses include adults and geriatrics, vent weaning, wound care, and spinal cord injury care. Special procedures involve 12 bed ICU and 35 bed med-surg unit staff. Required float to units qualified for and where competencies have been demonstrated.
