GIS Analyst III, IV or V - TPP Division - Austin, TX

Job Title GIS Analyst III, IV or V – TPP Division – Austin, TX (2601297) Overview Perform advanced GIS data analysis, data entry, and editing to support statewide transportation data development projects. Candidates will independently manage data workflows, create maps, develop custom tools and applications, and collaborate on team projects. Opportunities exist to grow skills with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online/Portal, Python, SQL, JavaScript, and FME. Responsibilities Utilize ArcGIS Online to create and maintain feature services and web mapping applications. Review geographic data from various sources, including state agencies, aerial imagery, and existing maps. Create, maintain, and update GIS databases and cartographic products using the ESRI suite. Develop and maintain links between attributes and other databases, including linear referencing of roadway networks. Follow documented workflows, SOPs, and best practices to produce high‑quality data with minimal errors. Research new software and techniques to improve performance and processes. Represent the organization at meetings and other forums. Administer SDEs, ArcGIS Online accounts, GitHub, and related accounts. Serve as project lead or lead worker on complex projects, coordinating planning, scheduling, and technical staffing. Provide technical assistance and support for transportation planning projects. Develop technical training curricula and train technical staff. Oversee the creation and production of cartographic map products, web mapping applications, and ArcGIS Online services. Lead the identification, gathering, and compilation of required geographic and tabular data from public and private sources. Provide oversight for consulting services in data development, management, analysis, and application/database development. Perform other job responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, or related field (experience may substitute for degree on a year‑per‑year basis). Experience: GIS Analyst III – 2 years with ESRI products in cartographic production, GIS, or GPS analysis. GIS Analyst IV – 4 years in cartography, mapping, surveying, or related roles using ESRI products. GIS Analyst V – 5 years in similar experience. Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license (position requires driving a state vehicle). Strong programming skills in JavaScript, Python, and/or FME. Experience with Oracle databases and linear referencing is a plus. Ability to work independently and in small team settings.
