In this role, you'll assist with a wide range of pharmacy functions while applying your nursing knowledge to deliver safe, high-quality service to every customer.If you are a licensed RN who is passionate about community health, comfortable in a fast-paced retail environment, and committed to exceptional patient care, we'd love to have you on our team.What You'll DoProvide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and making every interaction a positive oneAdminister vaccines as allowed by law, including at offsite vaccination events as neededHandle customer inquiries that do not require a pharmacist's expertise and judgmentAccept new written prescription orders and telephoned refill requests at the discretion of the supervising pharmacistContact doctor's offices to take or request refill prescriptions as neededGather and enter prescription and patient information into the computer and assist in maintaining correct patient informationAssist pharmacists in preparing prescription drug products for dispensingPrepare and affix labels to prescription containers and prepare prescriptions to be mailedPrepare and submit insurance claims and assist with third-party insurance billing and troubleshootingFile prescriptions after they have been dispensed and report any medication errors to appropriate personnelOrder, check in, and stock pharmacy supplies and log invoices as necessaryPerform cash transactions accuratelyMaintain the cleanliness of the pharmacy and dispensing areaMaintain the confidentiality of customers' private medical information in accordance with HIPAAAdhere to all statutes and regulations pertaining to a registered nurse and pharmacy technicianWork with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environmentAssist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assignedMaintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelinesReport to work when scheduled and on timeYour SkillsApply logical and scientific thinking to solve problems involving both abstract and concrete variablesPerform arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations accuratelyCompose original correspondence, follow technical manuals, and evaluate technical dataCounsel and advise patients and interact professionally with healthcare providers, team members, and store leadershipMaintain a high level of discretion and integrity when handling confidential patient informationReporting RelationshipsAccountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Health Wellness Home, Store Operations, and Perishables; Pharmacy Department Manager; Staff PharmacistsEducation and ExperienceNursing degree required; must be licensed with the applicable State Nursing Board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges upon hireValid driver's license with no DOT restrictions required for offsite vaccination events; must be 18 years or older to drive a company vehiclePhysical RequirementsPhysical activity is incidental to the core duties of the roleAbility to occasionally walk the floor or facility to observe operations, staff, or productAbility to occasionally handle product for demonstration purposesExposure to bloodborne pathogens and sharps (needles, lancets) associated with vaccine and immunization administration and other direct patient care dutiesNo regular lifting, carrying, or physical exertion requiredWorking EnvironmentThis is a fast-paced role in a retail pharmacy where you will handle multiple tasks throughout your shift including vaccine administration, prescription support, and customer service. There is occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals or solvents during compounding, including chemotherapy drugs. When working offsite for vaccination events, you may be exposed to equipment movement hazards, temperature extremes, vibrations, and dampness. Safety is always a priority, and training is provided to help ensure a safe and supportive work environment.The anticipated hourly starting wage for this position is $30.00 to $37.50 depending on experience.
