OSA thoroughly investigates alleged cases of fraud, waste, and abuse of taxpayer dollars, working with law enforcement on prosecution when warranted.Description of WorkThis position is designated as Exempt Policy-Making under G.S. 126-5(c)(3) and is considered an at-will appointment.The Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is seeking a Staff Auditor II to serve on our Rapid Response Division to assist with various investigations and performance audits that strengthen accountability and enhance transparency and efficiency of North Carolina government programs.As part of our team, you will get to:Work as part of a team to plan and complete audits of a diverse range of topics and programsSpeak with auditees, agency management, and legislators to understand the programs under an auditConduct on-site fieldwork, including information gathering and interviews, to determine:Risks impacting the program under an auditTo identify processes and controls that mitigate program risksReview and analyze source records, programmatic data, financial and program documentation, and/or systemsDocument the results of your work and any potential findings and recommendationsKnowledge Skills and Abilities/Management PreferencesSalary Range: $75,000- $85,000Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesIntermediate or working knowledge of auditing/accounting principles and practicesDemonstrated ability to oversee multiple prioritiesDemonstrated experience communicating effectively both orally and in writingStrong experience in report writingThis position is designated as Exempt Policy-Making under G.S. 126-5(c)(3) and is considered an at-will appointment.OSA is the state’s Fiscal Watchdog .
