WHO WE ARE SEEKING

Our organization is in search of a Board Eligible/Board Certified Gastroenterologist to address the increasing need for gastroenterology services in Michigan City, IN. This is an opportunity to join a well-established practice comprising five skilled physicians and several advanced practice providers.

WHAT WE REQUIRE

The ideal candidate should possess ERCP experience, a keen interest in Hepatology, and a strong commitment to clinical excellence and patient satisfaction. Exceptional interpersonal skills are essential, along with a desire to foster strong community ties and build enduring relationships with patients. The physician will collaborate effectively with the current medical team to ensure the highest standard of patient care.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

• Office Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Physician Schedule: 3-4 half days in clinic, 3-4 half days in surgery, and 1 full day off.
• Physician Call: 1:5 - One full week of call (Friday 8:00 a.m. to the following Friday 8:00 a.m.), with no clinic duties during call week, focusing solely on hospital procedures and front-line call coverage.
• Call rotation from Friday to Thursday, including rotating holidays.
• Average Patient Volumes: 12-15 patients during half-day clinic sessions and 8-10 during half-day surgery sessions.
• Shared resources include three RNs and dedicated Medical Assistant support for each physician, along with two in-house surgery schedulers.
• Outreach Required: Clinics located in LaPorte, Chesterton, and Valparaiso, all within a 30-minute commute.
• Potential for virtual consultations.
• Collaboration with advanced practice providers in the group:
  • Hospital-based Nurse Practitioner to manage new consults and rounding prior to physician visits.
  • Clinic-based Nurse Practitioner support.
• Access to strong mentorship from senior physician leadership.
• A robust referral base, averaging 75-100 general GI referrals per week.
• In-network oncology services providing comprehensive support.
• New construction and services being introduced.
• Onsite equipment includes BRAVO, Pill Cam, Fibroscan, HD Motility, and EndoFlip located at the Surgicenter.
• Advanced endoscopist in the group offering EUS and a variety of pancreaticobiliary interventions.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Doctorate degree required.
• Physician License (MD) required upon hire.
• Board Certification in the relevant specialty (or eligibility if applicable) required upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required upon hire.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Travel may be required occasionally.
