Your Job Koch Fertilizer Fort Dodge, LLCis looking for a 2027 Summer Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our Engineering team in Fort Dodge, Iowa.The internship opportunity will be a 12-week program running from late May to mid-August 2027. What You Will Do Take on projects that are representative of the work our full-time engineers do, gaining hands-on experience supporting plant reliability, maintenance, and operational excellence. Analyze equipment and operational data to identify improvement opportunities, support decision-making, and drive process optimization initiatives. Support predictive and preventive maintenance efforts to improve equipment reliability and minimize downtime. Participate in root cause analysis and troubleshooting activities to help resolve equipment and operational challenges. Review and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation, including Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), piping isometrics, plot plans, and equipment specifications. Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds. Ability to climb straight ladders. Some work may require heights in excess of 100 feet. Wearing industrial chemical plant uniforms and PPE as required. Confined space entry may be required. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technologies, or related field. Eligible for full-time employment before or by May 2029 Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship Willing and able to meet all physical requirements What Will Put You Ahead Experience troubleshooting mechanical equipment, engines, rotating equipment, or maintenance systems Demonstrated involvement in engineering design teams, student organizations, or hands-on mechanical projects At Koch companies, we are entrepreneurs.
