Senior Product Marketing Manager
$120k - $150kWhippy
Remote, United States | Full time | Reports to the CEO
Compensation: $120K to $150K total compensation, base plus performance bonus, plus equity. This is our founding marketing hire.
You are being hired to fire the CEO from his second job.
Whippy grew to 1,000+ customers with almost no marketing team. Pipeline comes from founder led webinars, partner channels, referrals, and customer stories good enough that prospects quote them back to us. Right now the CEO personally writes the case studies, directs the website, organizes the events, and approves every asset, while the audiences we already own sit untouched: no sequences, no retargeting, no cross sell motion. Your job covers both halves of that problem. You codify the message, and you build the machine that ships it. Then you own a pipeline number the way an AE owns a quota.
One thing to know before you apply: this is a rare shape of role, deliberately. Most product marketers hand their messaging over a wall to someone else who distributes it. Most lifecycle marketers get handed messaging they didn't write. Here there is no wall. The person who writes the story builds the sequence it goes in. If you've spent your career on one side of that wall, this is not your job. If you've done both and hated the wall, keep reading.
Why Whippy
Whippy is the AI native platform for business communication: AI Voice Agents, AI Recruiting, messaging, VoIP, deep integrations, and our own workflow engine in one system. Our customers do not buy software that helps their employees do the work. They buy AI that does the work.
Our deepest market is staffing and HR, where we are the category leader, and new verticals are already opening behind it. We are bootstrapped and profitable, with named, public case studies showing customers saving $1M+ per year. The proof exists. The machine to distribute it does not. That is the problem you are hired to fix.
How we work
Bootstrapped and profitable, so revenue is the strategy, and marketing is measured in pipeline, not impressions. No task is above or beneath anyone here: you will interview customers yourself, write the first draft yourself, and build the sequence yourself. Use AI for leverage: research, repurposing, ops, the grunt work. Never for voice.
The mandate, in priority order
Codify our messaging, then enforce it. Your first deliverable: extract our positioning from the founder's webinars, demos, and the language customers use in our case studies, and turn it into one messaging document. Positioning, product one liners, proof points, banned phrases, competitive framing against the tools we replace. The messaging exists today; it lives in the founder's head and a dozen slightly different pages. You make it one source of truth that everything you ship afterward draws from.
Own email and lifecycle marketing end to end. This is where your messaging goes to work, immediately. Audiences we already own and never touch: a thousand customers who hold one product and have never heard about the other five, everyone who demoed and did not close, closed lost deals, and warm site traffic with no retargeting layer. You build the sequences, the drips, the new product announcement motion to the base and to dead pipeline, and the retargeting programs. Nothing here requires inventing demand. It requires finally talking to the people already in the building.
Own marketing HubSpot. Today we run HubSpot as a CRM and nothing more: contacts are messy, marketing contacts are unmanaged, lifecycle stages are unused, and no lead has ever entered a nurture. You clean it up and make it the measurement backbone: contact hygiene and segmentation, marketing contact management, lifecycle stages, campaign tracking, and attribution from first visit through demo to close, working alongside our sales ops resource, so for the first time we can say which motion sourced which dollar.
Build the proof engine. The CEO writes our case studies today, and prospects quote them back to us. You take that over: extract stories from webinar and call recordings, interview the customers, draft in our voice, get approvals, and arm every story as a page, a PDF, a one pager, and clips cut from recordings we already have. Then turn the library into enablement: battlecards against the tools we replace, per product one pagers built from our Solutions Engineer's technical documentation, and kits for the ATS partner reps who already recommend us inside their own demos and have never been given a single asset to do it with. Everything you write feeds everything you send.
Turn events into campaigns, and manage our content writer. The CEO runs the webinars and the dinners; he is the talent. You make sure nothing he generates goes to waste: promotion and registration before, follow up sequences after, and extraction, so every webinar becomes case studies, clips, and campaigns within two weeks instead of sitting in a recording. And our blog and SEO writer reports to you: you set editorial priorities against the messaging doc, raise the bar, and turn one person patching articles into a content function.
What success looks like
First 30 days: the messaging doc exists and the CEO signed it, you know our six products, three main competitors, and customer stories cold, marketing contacts in HubSpot are cleaned and segmented, and the first lifecycle sequence is live.
First 90 days: two new named case studies shipped and armed, cross sell and demo no close sequences producing measured pipeline, retargeting live, attribution reporting running in HubSpot from visit to close, and partner enablement kits in the hands of at least two ATS partner teams.
Year one: marketing is a predictable pipeline channel with its own number, every customer and dead deal in our database is in a motion, the proof library covers every product and vertical, and the CEO has not written a case study, built a sequence, directed a website page, or chased an event follow up in six months.
Who succeeds here
You have 4+ years in B2B SaaS marketing, and your career crossed the wall: you did hands on lifecycle, email, or growth work, and you did real product marketing, positioning, competitive, enablement, whether or not the titles said so. Most people like this come from companies under 100 people, where they were one of one or two marketers and did everything because nobody else would. That's who we want.
You can show us both kinds of receipts. Sequences you built with your own hands and what they produced. And named case studies or messaging work you personally shipped and got approved, with the story of how you got each customer to yes. You are genuinely strong in HubSpot: workflows, marketing contacts, segmentation, lifecycle stages, attribution, not just sending emails from it. You write clearly and fast enough that a demanding founder reads your draft and does not reach for the red pen. You know your numbers: pipeline sourced, conversion rates, what each motion returns. Ideally you've done this at a vertical SaaS company selling to SMB owners and operators. Bonus points if you started in sales or SDR work, because you will be embedded with the sales team and you need their instincts.
This is not for you if
You want a brand or pure strategy role. This is a shipping role with a strategy layer, in that order.
You can position or you can distribute, but not both. Half this job is writing the message, half is building the machine that sends it. Missing either half makes this a bad time.
You have opinions about email marketing but have never built the workflow yourself.
You talk strategy more fluently than you talk numbers.
You need an agency and a big budget before anything ships.
You want to manage the work instead of doing the work.
Why join now
The hardest part of marketing is having something true to say. We have customers saving seven figures with named executives on the record, a category lead in AI, partner reps who recommend us unprompted, a founder who generates demand every time he speaks, and thousands of people already in our database who have never been sent any of it. You are the first marketing hire on a clean cap table. The message is yours to codify and the machine is yours to build, and you get to do it your way.
