Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a CCU night shift position requiring an IA or compact license and 3 years of CCU experience.

Details

CCU unit within an acute care, Critical Access Hospital (Trauma Level 4)

6 CCU-level beds that flex to accommodate MedSurg Peds patients as needed

Nurse to patient ratio goal of 1:2, up to 1:4 depending on acuity and unit needs

Common diagnoses include CHF, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, and DKA

RNs manage titratable drips such as Cardizem, insulin, and norepinephrine

RT coverage is daytime only; nights and weekends RNs manage Bipap, vents, and other RT needs with House Supervisor support

RT equipment includes CPAP, Bipap (V60), Vapotherm, and Hamilton vent

CCU nurses monitor their own telemetry with no dedicated monitor techs

Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts on a 6-week cyclic schedule

Weekend rotation required every third weekend (Fri/Sat/Sun or flexible to Sat/Sun/Mon)

Floating required to MedSurg Peds; cross-training to Behavioral Health or ER optional

Uses MEDITECH EMR

Requirements

Active RN license (IA state or compact) required

Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA)

Minimum 3 years of CCU experience required

Minimum 1 year of travel nursing experience required

BSN not required

TNCC, NIHSS, and PALS certifications preferred

Experience managing titratable drips required

Additional Information

Collaborate with a Charge Nurse overseeing both CCU and MedSurg Peds and a House Supervisor overseeing the hospital and nursing home

Patients are followed by private physicians; ER physician responds to codes/emergencies

Two 12-hour shifts of unit-specific orientation provided

Scrubs may be grey, black, pink, or white in any combination

Holiday coverage required based on contract season (one major and one minor holiday)

Must be aware of and support unit quality initiatives and projects

Positive, team-oriented culture with an emphasis on collaboration and support

Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility

First-time travelers may be considered
