Maintenance Plc Technician

The Maintenance Plc Technician is responsible for performing daily preventive and predictive maintenance on manufacturing equipment, including robotics, PLCs, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, while also supporting facility maintenance. This role focuses on troubleshooting and repairing equipment breakdowns to reduce downtime, installing and commissioning equipment on new and existing production lines, and ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of machinery to maximize productivity.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety at all times by regularly reviewing and updating safety procedures based on suggestions, near misses, incidents, and new developments.
• Strive to continuously improve production processes through predictive and preventive maintenance activities.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on manufacturing machinery, including troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify potential problems and proactively address them to prevent equipment failures.
• Diagnose and repair electrical components such as motors, switches, sensors, and PLC inverters.
• Install, calibrate, and program PLC inverters to optimize machine performance and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to implement machine upgrades, modifications, and improvements.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including parts replacements, repairs, and equipment history.
• Support facility maintenance needs, including expansion projects and infrastructure improvements.
• Follow all safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
• Identify major cost drivers within machine maintenance and contribute ideas to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
• Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and safety requirements.
• Monitor maintenance-related inventory levels and ensure adequate stock of parts and supplies.
• Confirm compliance with required certifications or reporting related to equipment and maintenance activities.
• Work flexibly to support production and maintenance needs, including additional hours when required.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Maintenance and Plc Technician or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems, including PLC inverters.
• Strong understanding of industrial machinery and mechanical systems, including motors, drives, gears, and bearings.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical manuals, and related documentation.
• Solid understanding of electrical systems, mechanical systems, and automation technology, including PLC troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to industrial equipment and automation.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
• Ability to maintain a professional, positive attitude in the workplace.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Proficiency in PLC programming is a plus, including experience with ladder logic, function block diagrams, and structured text programming languages.
• Experience with automation technology and industrial control systems.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for PLCs and other industrial equipment, including analyzing system faults and implementing corrective actions.
• Knowledge of electrical wiring, circuits, and a variety of electrical components used in manufacturing environments.
• Experience conducting equipment audits and documenting maintenance activities for compliance and continuous improvement.
• Comfort working on cross-functional projects with engineering and production teams.

Work Environment

This role is based in a very clean and modern manufacturing facility that produces a new generation of power transmission lines designed to be lighter, stronger, and more resistant to environmental degradation than traditional power lines. The position operates on 2nd shift, from 4:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, with flexibility required to work additional hours as needed to support production and maintenance demands. The environment is highly focused on safety, reliability, and innovation, with advanced machinery, robotics, and PLC-controlled equipment forming the core of the production process.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntington Beach, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
