GI Endoscopy Technician

Position Overview GI Endoscopy Technician – Days, Full Time – Olathe Medical Pavilion B. An unlicensed staff member, the Technician provides direct patient care under RN supervision, including vital signs, point‑of‑care testing, unit supply management, and maintenance of a clean functional environment. Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions Anticipate and prepare by obtaining supplies and specialty equipment, setting up under clean technique prior to assigned procedures. Assist physician during procedures and clean the procedure room afterward. Maintain scope cleaning equipment and accessories; perform manual cleaning and high‑level disinfection of scopes. Maintain stock of supplies in the procedure room during, between, and after procedures; facilitate efficient turnover to keep the room schedule on track. Assist with transportation of patients to ancillary departments or inpatient units as directed by licensed staff. Perform vital signs (e.g., temperature, pulse rate, blood pressure), apply leads, and monitor EKG and cardiac monitoring. Prepare patients for procedures according to hospital and unit protocols. Report all observed patient concerns and changes in condition to a licensed staff member. Complete all competencies for diagnostic procedures and high‑level disinfection (HLD). Other duties may be assigned as required. Required Education and Experience High School Graduate or GED. Preferred: Medical Assistant, CNA, EMT, or LPN; completion of 1–2 years of nursing school; 2 or more years of technical experience. Required Licensure and Certification Basic Life Support (BLS) – Heartsaver (Non‑Clinical) from the American Heart Association. Respirator Fit Test – The University of Kansas Health System (TUKHS) upon Hire. Knowledge Requirements Basic typing and PC/software experience.
