Site Superintendent II

The Site Superintendent II oversees field operations for environmental remediation and civil construction projects. This role is responsible for safe and compliant execution of work, supervision of employees and subcontractors, schedule and cost performance, quality, documentation, and client satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead site safety activities, including daily safety meetings, hazard recognition and control, behavioral-based safety observations, audits, incident reporting, and investigations. Direct daily work performed by craft personnel, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, contracts, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements. Plan staffing, equipment, materials, and subcontractor needs; verify personnel are properly trained, qualified, and certified for assigned work. Develop and maintain short-term work plans and three-week look-ahead schedules; update project schedules in Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 as needed. Track productivity, labor, equipment, materials, burn rates, and project costs; communicate performance, risks, delays, and corrective actions to the Project Manager. Maintain accurate daily reports, field notebooks, safety records, quality documentation, and other required project records. Review contracts, plans, specifications, work plans, and submittals; identify scope changes, potential claims, project risks, and procurement needs. Ensure work meets company and client quality standards; investigate deficiencies and implement corrective actions. Manage subcontractors and vendors, coordinate material purchases, and confirm materials and services meet project requirements. Train, coach, and evaluate field employees; support employee development, accountability, teamwork, and compliance with company policies. Maintain professional communication with clients, project stakeholders, and internal teams, and help achieve strong client satisfaction. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated communication and mathematical skills. Three to five years of successful experience as a Site Foreman or in a comparable field leadership role. Experience with environmental remediation, contaminated-soil excavation and disposal, civil construction/earthwork, heavy equipment operations, mass excavation, grading, backfill, compaction, paving, demolition, shoring, or remediation system installation. Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, contracts, schedules, work plans, and project cost information. Strong leadership, organization, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, scheduling software, and project cost/productivity tracking tools.

REQUIRED OR PREFERRED TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS

OSHA 30‑Hour Construction Safety and 40‑Hour HAZWOPER, with current refresher training as applicable. 8‑Hour OSHA Supervisor training, First Aid/CPR, excavation competent person, and confined‑space training, as required by project duties. USACE Construction Quality Management for Contractors certification preferred or required for applicable projects. Additional project‑specific licenses, medical clearances, or certifications may be required.

PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around heavy equipment, moving machinery, elevated work areas, hazardous materials, noise, dust, and other construction‑site hazards. Ability to wear respiratory protection and chemical protective clothing and to pass required baseline or periodic medical examinations. Ability to stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and use hands for extended periods. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds. Ability to travel extensively, work weekends or extended hours, and remain away from home for prolonged assignments.
