Gymnastics Instructor II

Part-Time Gymnastics Instructor

Responsible for providing gymnastics instruction for girls and boys walking/age 1-14 years old ranging from beginner through advanced level students. Can also serve as an assistant recreational level coach. This includes, but is not limited to, stretching, lifting, and spotting. Must be responsible, reliable, and energetic. Experience in gymnastics, physical education, or child development is required.

Essential job functions include being creative and collaborative, communicating professionally, showing professionalism, setting up materials, preparing and rehearsing students, serving as a lead instructor, communicating and interacting with children, applying a mindful approach to different learning styles, teaching proper progressions, creating complex class formats, reporting safety concerns, and assisting with facility cleaning and organization.

Minimum qualifications include experience working with children, 3-5 years of gymnastics or child development training, knowledge in basic progressions of gymnastics and/or child development, knowledge of basic gymnastics terminology, and experience teaching and spotting gymnastics skills. A driver license is preferred. Special requirements include following USA Gymnastics SafeSport guidelines.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include a high degree of human relations skills, ability to communicate and manage information, ability to motivate, coach, and lead participants in the field of gymnastics, ability to maintain class control and safety, and ability to mentor level 1 instructors.

Physical demands involve some lifting, carrying, climbing, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light to medium weight, standing on your feet for an extended period of time, demonstrating body positions, and bending over to assist students with physical corrections. Work is regularly performed in a shared space with multiple groups of age and ability, where class control must be maintained for safety in an often loud and crowded facility.
