Immigration Paralegal

The Immigration Paralegal will provide high‑level support to the firm’s immigration practice, assisting with all aspects of employment‑based matters and occasional family‑based matters. The role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple cases in a fast‑paced environment. Under the supervision of immigration counsel, the paralegal will prepare and file petitions and applications with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Department of Labor (DOL), and the Department of State (DOS), track case progress, and maintain communication with clients and sponsored employees, utilizing case and document management systems. The ideal candidate is proactive, tech‑savvy, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with attorneys, clients, and firm staff. Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities Prepare and file a full range of immigration petitions and applications, including H-1B, TN, L-1A/B, E-2, O-1, PERM labor certifications, and employment-based adjustment of status filings, working in coordination and under supervision from immigration counsel. Draft and assemble support letters, exhibits, forms, and cover letters under attorney supervision. Maintain and update client case management systems to track case progress, deadlines, and reporting metrics. Communicate professionally with corporate clients, HR teams, and sponsored employees to gather documents and provide case updates. Review client-provided information for accuracy and completeness; flag inconsistencies or missing data. Coordinate prevailing wage requests, job orders, and recruitment steps for PERM filings. Conduct legal research on immigration regulations, policy changes, and country conditions as assigned. Manage document retention, file organization, and billing entries in compliance with firm policies. Assist with practice management initiatives, such as establishing and improving templates, checklists, and internal workflows. Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with firm and client data security policies. Core Competencies Knowledge of U.S. immigration laws, regulations, and procedures across multiple agencies (USCIS, DOL, DOS). Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with clients with professionalism and tact. Attention to detail and accuracy in preparing filings and reviewing documentation. Ability to work independently while maintaining clear communication and follow‑up with attorneys and client contacts. Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and problem‑solving skills in a changing environment. Willingness to occasionally work beyond standard hours to meet filing deadlines. Education and Experience Requirements Minimum 3–5 years of experience in business immigration law (H-1B, PERM, L-1, TN, E-2, O-1, and/or employment‑based green cards). Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate required. Experience with immigration case management systems (e.g., Cerenade eImmigration, Docketwise, or similar platforms) preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required. Must demonstrate the ability to analyze complex immigration regulations under attorney guidance and coordinate information from multiple stakeholders. Strong written communication and proofreading skills required. Work Environment and Expectations This position may require occasional overtime, particularly during peak filing periods (e.g., H-1B cap season). The immigration paralegal is expected to maintain a high level of professionalism, responsiveness, and confidentiality in all interactions with clients and firm colleagues.
