Job Title: Maintenance Technician I-II

Classification:  Non-exempt

Reports To:  Maintenance Manager

Position Type:  Full-time

Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday; daytime hours, occasional weekends

Work Location: HQ, Kansas City , MO

Listed pay scale is for entry level to advanced. Hourly rate will be dependent on skills, certifications and experience.

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician ensures the efficient operation of parts and machinery by completing inspections, tests, and working to identify and repair any issues.

Essential Functions:

• Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines.
• Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary.
• Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
• Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.
• Orders and installs replacement parts for machines.
• Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.
• Repairs broken machines quickly and efficiently.
• Prepares reports and documents work performed.
• Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
• Coordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
• Collaborates with product manager or plant engineer regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required.
• Makes necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required.
• Uses lean manufacturing methodologies to drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase production and reduce costs.
• Applies Kaizen principles to identify areas for continuous improvement and implement strategies to optimize procurement processes, reduce costs and improve efficiency.
• Uses 5S methodology to organize and maintain a clean, efficient workplace.
• Supports established safety and health standards to keep the organization accident-free.
• Collaborates effectively with Production, Logistics, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Safety to achieve operational excellence and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Manufacturing Plant Environment: 100%

Personal Protective Equipment recommended and/or required on production floor:

• Safety glasses, or prescription safety glasses that meet ANSI Z 87.1-2020.
• Hearing Protection that meets ANSI S 12.6-2016.
• Steel-toed shoes with anti-slip soles that meets ASTM F2413-2018.

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception to visually inspect machines.
• Able to read and follow written and verbal instructions.

Required Education/Experience/Certifications:

• High school diploma, technical school education, or equivalent experience.
• Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.
• 1+ year of experience as a maintenance technician or a similar role.
• Valid driver's license is required and must be maintained for employment.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing methods and procedures.
• Knowledge of OSHA and regulatory requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with team members and other departments.
• Organized with attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Education/Experience/Certifications:

• Technical training at a vocational school or community college in industrial / machinery maintenance and troubleshooting preferred.
• OSHA safety certification is a plus.
• Experience in an ISO 9001:2015 environment.
• Experience with MRP/ERP software and applications such as Sage, SAP, Oracle, or Syteline.
• Experienced in 5S methodology with demonstrated proficiency in organizing and maintaining a clean, efficient workplace.
• Ability to identify continuous improvement opportunities and implement effective solutions.
• Experience within the commercial vehicle/automotive industry
• Bilingual: English/Spanish.

Travel Requirements: Travel up to 25% in company vehicle to branch locations.
