The Residential Manager oversees the daily operations of a residential lodge at Idaho Youth Ranch's Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility, a licensed behavioral health setting serving youth with complex psychiatric and trauma-related needs. This is a hands-on leadership role that spans program management, staff supervision, youth care oversight, documentation and compliance, and active collaboration with the clinical and nursing teams. You're not a distant administrator. You're the operational center of the residential program, the person who ensures the lodge runs safely, the staff are supported and held accountable, the youth receive consistent and therapeutic care, and the program meets the regulatory standards that a licensed PRTF requires. Each is significant on its own. Together, they define what it means to lead a residential program well. Program Management Develop and implement residential program policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory guidelines and evidence-based best practices Coordinate and oversee day-to-day lodge operations, ensuring ongoing compliance with all applicable state and licensing regulations Collaborate with the treatment team to support individualized treatment plans and monitor resident progress Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions to maintain communication standards and support ongoing professional development Staff Supervision and Development Recruit, hire, train, and supervise residential staff, including Shift Supervisors and Youth Care Providers Provide ongoing supervision, guidance, and support that promotes a positive work environment and fosters staff growth Conduct performance evaluations, address performance concerns, and implement corrective action when necessary Build and sustain a team culture grounded in collaboration, accountability, and respect Youth Care and Safety Ensure the safety and security of residents through consistent implementation and enforcement of protocols Monitor and evaluate residents' physical and emotional wellbeing, addressing concerns promptly in coordination with clinical and nursing staff Support recreational activities, socialization opportunities, and life skills development as part of residents' broader rehabilitation Documentation and Compliance Maintain accurate, current documentation including youth records, incident reports, and program progress notes Prepare regular reports on program activities, outcomes, and critical events Ensure documentation standards meet licensing and regulatory requirements for a PRTF setting Collaboration and Communication Collaborate actively with the treatment team, therapists, psychiatrists, case managers, and nursing staff, to ensure comprehensive, coordinated care Maintain regular communication with residents' families, providing progress updates, addressing concerns, and supporting appropriate family involvement in treatment Coordinate with external agencies and community resources to support residents' needs beyond the lodge Your reporting structure and key relationships You hire, train, supervise, and develop the Shift Supervisors and Youth Care Providers who staff the lodge around the clock. Their performance is a reflection of your leadership. Your investment in their development is one of the most consequential things you do in this role. On the clinical side, you're a central operational partner, not in a clinical role, but responsible for ensuring the operational environment of the lodge supports clinical goals. That requires genuine understanding of both sides of the residential program and the ability to work across professional disciplines effectively. You'll also maintain regular communication with residents' families, one of the more demanding aspects of residential management in a behavioral health setting, and coordinate with external agencies and regulatory contacts as needed.
