Phlebotomist

Location: Mount Pleasant, SC | Schedule: Contract, full-time, on-site (Mon-Thurs 8AM-5PM, Fri 8AM-4PM) Overview A healthcare services provider is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to support its laboratory operations on a contract basis, with potential for permanent placement. This role is essential to ensuring accurate specimen collection and processing for patient care. What you'll do Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities Collect and store specimens according to established procedures Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods (e.g., urine or fecal) as required Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles Fully understand and follow physicians' orders Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy Package specimens for transport Store specimen samples at required temperatures, place samples in appropriate containers/tubes, label accurately, and follow protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend annual department trainings Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries Required qualifications Requires a minimum of 1 year of experience Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting 1+ years of experience Glucose testing experience Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite High School Diploma or GED Compensation and benefits Benefits are available Why this role This contract position offers the potential for permanent placement, along with available benefits, in a hands-on laboratory environment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
