Residential Appraiser

Webb County Appraisal District

Perform appraisal work involving real property, commercial real property, and/or business personal property for ad valorem tax assessment purposes. Conduct field inspections and office-based appraisal activities, including occasional outdoor work. Develop and maintain knowledge of District operations and applicable provisions of the Texas Property Tax Code. Assist with all aspects of the appraisal and valuation process, including data collection, property inspections, documentation, sketching, planning, assignments, and reporting. Perform data entry and apply statistical and mathematical functions related to appraisal activities. Establish, maintain, review, and update accurate and complete appraisal records. Become proficient in the use of District appraisal software, systems, and programs. Communicate professionally and effectively with property owners, the general public, coworkers, supervisors, and management. Provide courteous and professional customer service when assisting property owners and responding to questions or concerns. Attend and successfully complete required educational courses, training, and cross-training assignments. Maintain confidentiality of District, employee, and property owner information as required. Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, reliability, good conduct, and consistent attendance. Work overtime as required, particularly during peak appraisal and protest periods. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Skills and Abilities Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines. Ability to perform mathematical calculations and apply basic statistical concepts. Ability to learn and apply appraisal procedures, policies, laws, and regulations. Ability to maintain accurate records and handle confidential information appropriately. Ability to adapt to changing assignments and work requirements. Ability to meet travel and overtime requirements. Education High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field preferred. Experience and Qualifications Strong computer and typing skills required. Proficiency with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Strong mathematical skills. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required. Must be flexible, self-motivated, dependable, well-organized, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
