Clinical Service Representative II - Surgery

Position Summary Scheduled Hours: 40 per week Provides clinical office support including greeting and registering patients, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance benefits and referrals, and collecting co‑payments. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Greets patients and assists with form completion. Verifies accuracy of patient insurance and demographic information. Provides HIPAA, arbitration, and consent‑to‑treat forms. Collects co‑pays, verifies and balances receipts and payments. Reviews schedule for new patients, updating as necessary. Calls patients with appointment time reminders, obtains insurance and referral information. Prepares, distributes, and collects fee tickets; reviews fee tickets for completeness and reconciles with the daily schedule. Schedules return patient appointments and patient testing; validates parking availability. May prepare patient charts for daily appointments. Assists patients with insurance billing questions. Assists staff with sending reminder cards and other related scheduling duties. Working Conditions Normal office environment. Exposure to blood‑borne pathogens requires protective devices. Dedicated patient care setting. Physical Effort Typically sitting at a desk or table; standing or walking; bending, crouching, stooping; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. Equipment Office equipment and clinical/diagnostic equipment. Required Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association; BLS – American Red Cross. Online BLS without a skills assessment is not acceptable. Work Experience: Medical office setting – at least 2 years. Skills: Communication, computer literacy, insurance knowledge, interpersonal relationships, medical terminology. Driver's License: Not required. Preferred Qualifications No additional education or certification required. No additional work experience required.
