The CHEF’STORE Sales Associate helps maintain an atmosphere of superior customer service, promoting the US Foods strategy: Great Food, Made Easy. As a key member of our team, you will fill a variety of roles, including Cashier, Stocker, and Customer Courtesy. You must be passionate about service and model this behavior in all aspects of job performance. During a shift you may be assigned to the front end, sales floor (Meat/Frozen, Produce/Dairy, Dry Goods/Culinary Equipment & Supply) or to replenish freight and rotate product. You may also assist during special store events such as Vendor Fairs, floor resets, and inventory processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Front End Ensure all customers have an impeccable CHEF’STORE experience by developing and maximizing relationships with the store’s customers. Perform sales and cash functions in the POS efficiently and accurately, scanning merchandise, weighing product, and resolving any barcode discrepancies. Perform cart‑to‑cart transfer of all products at checkout, including a visual inspection for tampering. Verify cart content versus purchases as customers leave the store. Assist with front‑end opening and closing duties. Sales Floor and Stocking Focus on increasing sales and managing shrinkage while helping customers locate products. Receive inventory shipments, maintain orderly stocking, and rotate products using FIFO. Label all merchandise correctly, including unscannable tags, catch‑weight labels, and PLU tags for produce. Replenish sales floor daily from top stock to floor using trucks, pallet jacks, and other moving equipment. Use Microsoft Word, Excel, and proprietary software as needed. Assist with pricing changes and opening/closing duties as directed. Participate in inventory and cycle count processes. Customer Courtesy Maintain a safe environment by following safety policies and reporting issues. Keep sales floor, front‑end, restrooms, parking lot, and entry area clean. Collect and return carts from parking lot and corrals. Perform other duties assigned by Store Management. SUPERVISION N/A RELATIONSHIPS Internal: Interact with employees at all levels of responsibility within the company. External: Interact with customers and other service and product providers. WORK ENVIRONMENT Performed in a retail store open to the public, with exposure to outdoor weather, moderate noise, and potential ladder or elevated surface use. Temperature ranges from -10 to 85°F. Physical interaction with customers is required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 6‑12 months of retail cashier and/or stocking experience. Preferred: one year of retail selling and/or customer service experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Strong customer service orientation and adaptability. Fast, easy, efficient, and professional service to each customer. Good common sense, logical thinking, and basic mathematical aptitude. Motivated, self‑driven with ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently or in a team. Flexibility to work a flexible hourly schedule, including holidays and weekends. Basic computer skills, cash handling experience, and proficiency with general office equipment. EDUCATION High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.
