Retail Banker I – Job Description Location: Cranford, New Jersey, United States of America Hours: 20 Pay: $24.25 - $32.50 USD Line of Business: Personal & Commercial Banking Job Summary: The Retail Banker I is a customer liaison integral to delivering TD’s brand promise by providing financial expertise and consultative advice to assist customers with their banking solutions and needs. The role supports business objectives by identifying TD solutions that help customers achieve financial goals and optimize their relationship with TD. Key Responsibilities Use product knowledge to identify opportunities to educate customers on bank products and services, and refer them to appropriate team members or internal partners, ensuring a positive customer experience. Maintain a broad understanding of the full product suite, services and processes, handling tasks of low to moderate complexity. Establish and nurture customer relationships by consistently displaying product knowledge, actively listening to customer needs, and offering solutions or referrals. Recommend products based on customer needs, highlighting features and benefits that save time, money and exceed expectations. Utilize customer relationship management tools to conduct customer assessments and drive outbound sales activities. Resolve customer issues, errors and problems independently and elevate when necessary. Build working relationships and explain detailed or complicated information to customers. Participate in customer outreach, servicing and advisory activities aligned with the unexpectedly human promise. Engage in conversations about loan products and facilitate the application intake. Maintain active registration status with the NMLS (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry). Qualifications HS Diploma or GED. Minimum one year of experience working with customers and/or sales, or equivalent through volunteering, education, or military experience. Teller experience preferred; must complete teller training upon hire. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Demonstrated ability to engage in customer conversations, educate on products and services, and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment. Excellent communication skills and ability to be concise, clear and consistent. Strong organizational skills, ability to schedule and prioritize work, and work independently within deadlines. Sound judgment, effective problem‑solving, and decision‑making. Notary license preferred. NMLS registration required; must be eligible under Regulation Z and SAFE Act regulations. Required Physical and Legal Requirements Perform continuing sedentary work and multiple simultaneous tasks. Operate standard office equipment and respond quickly to sounds.
