HVAC Technician Location: Anchorage, Alaska – Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson Type: Non-Exempt Work Schedule: Full-Time, Day Shift Compensation: $50.49 - $50.49 per hour Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k) retirement plan, Life & Short-Term Disability Insurance $13.13 per hour Health and Welfare Benefit Flexible Spending Accounts for both medical and dependent care 11 paid federal holidays, accrual of 12 paid days of vacation at the start of employment, paid sick leave Potential shared earning bonus Tuition assistance available after 1 year of employment and potential scholarships for qualified dependents Professional development, certifications, and training opportunities Verizon wireless discount Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and an engaging wellness program Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligibility for full-time employees Responsibilities Installation, repair, and troubleshooting of HVAC systems Preventative maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment Utilization of wire diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and drawings for repairs and maintenance Installation and cleaning of air and water filters Installation and programming of thermostats Fabrication, assembly, and installation of ductwork and chassis parts Connection of motors, compressors, temperature controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and power sources Direct communication with customers to inform about expected or additional repairs and determine customer needs Response to customer inquiries and complaints Ensuring completed work meets quality control standards Diagnosis of complex issues and suggestion of solutions and repairs to customers Communication with schedulers to update repair status and estimate completion dates Operation of company-provided vehicles, trailers, lifts, and gas and electric-powered small equipment Use of mobile maintenance and inspection devices to record service and repair activities Maintenance and wearing of required PPE Qualifications One (1) year of HVAC experience required Completion of civilian or military trade school training or equivalent Municipality of Anchorage Mechanical License preferred State of Alaska Mechanical License preferred (Journeyman level license preferred) EPA 608 license required or ability to obtain within one year Alaska certificate of fitness required Physical Requirements Ability to lift or move up to 70 pounds Capability to perform reaching, kneeling, walking, standing, and repetitive motions for extended periods Requires use of repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, walking, standing or sitting for several hours; climbing in and out of vehicles, and up and down stairs may also be required Perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods Requirements Valid state driver’s license required with ability to maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance Must obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access; background check and E‑Verify will be conducted Date Posted: 05/21/2026 Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID‑compliant driver’s license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act.
