Accountant - Fashion/ Retail

A well-established fashion and retail group is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its growing finance team in New York City. This role will be involved in the monthly close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and day-to-day accounting operations across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting
• Analyze general ledger accounts and investigate variances
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other general accounting activities as needed
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
• Assist with audit requests and other ad hoc financial reporting projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 2+ years of accounting experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
• Experience with month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations
• Proficiency in Excel and experience with an ERP or accounting system
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
