COSMETOLOGY SCHOOL OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

Mosley School of Cosmetology | Grand Rapids, Michigan

Mosley School of Cosmetology is seeking an experienced Operations Director to oversee the business, administrative, financial, facility, and general operations of our growing cosmetology and barber school.

This is a senior leadership position requiring extensive experience within a cosmetology and/or barber school environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum 10 years of experience in a Cosmetology and/or Barber School

Must hold a current Michigan Instructor License

Previous leadership or school management experience

Strong business and office management experience

Strong financial and administrative skills

Experience supervising employees and managing school operations

Knowledge of NACCAS accreditation and compliance preferred

Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

School & Business Operations

Oversee all general school operations

Oversee financial operations and financial processes

Manage and monitor building maintenance

Coordinate equipment maintenance and operational needs

Oversee school advertising and marketing activities

Maintain operational systems, policies, and procedures

Leadership & Staff Management

Conduct instructor and staff evaluations

Supervise staff performance and accountability

Structure and lead staff meetings

Assist with staffing, scheduling, and operational coverage

Address operational problems and implement corrective solutions

Student Management

Conduct student interventions and re-directive counseling

Assist with student concerns, disciplinary matters, and problem resolution

Participate in new student orientation

Present financial planning and financial responsibility information to incoming students

Accreditation & Institutional Operations

Serve as a NACCAS institutional contact

Assist with accreditation compliance, reporting, and institutional requirements

Maintain involvement with AACS and other professional school organizations

Coordinate and structure Advisory Board meetings

Work closely with the Academic Director to ensure operational and academic departments remain compliant and aligned

THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT FROM THE ACADEMIC DIRECTOR

The Operations Director is responsible for the overall business, administrative, financial, staffing, facility, compliance, and operational functions of the school.

The Academic Director/Instructor Supervisor will primarily oversee curriculum, education, instructor development, classroom performance, student assessments, clinic supervision, and academic outcomes.

We are looking for an experienced leader who can step into a growing school and manage operations, create structure, hold staff accountable, solve problems, and help the organization continue to scale.
