Position: Senior Accountant Location: Chicago, IL Job Id: 6120 # of Openings: 0 Silver Birch Living Chicago Loop (On-Site) Silver Birch Living are growing — and we’re looking for a driven, detail-oriented Senior Accountant to grow with us. Silver Birch Living is a regional leader in affordable assisted living communities across four states, serving over 1,400 residents and leading the market in quality and resident care. As both organizations continue significant growth and expansion, we are adding a Senior Accountant to support accounting operations for new construction projects and ongoing community management. Position Overview This role serves as a core accounting team member supporting both: Bank reconciliations Expense control reviews Variance analysis Monthly journal entries Financial planning & analysis Monthly accounting for projects under construction Preparation of construction draw requests Journal entries for month-end close This position is office-based in the Chicago Loop and works closely with finance leadership to support financial accuracy, reporting integrity, and strategic growth initiatives. Key Responsibilities Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes Analyze financial statements for accuracy and GAAP compliance Prepare monthly financial statements with variance analysis Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes Assist with construction draw requests and project-based accounting Support external audits and research accounting matters Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting processes Oversee fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules Participate in financial analysis and operational analytics Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA preferred) 2+ years of accounting experience (public accounting preferred) Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting Experience with financial statement preparation and month-end close Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., MRI, NetSuite, PCC or similar ERP systems) and Microsoft Excel Advanced Excel skills (SUMIFS, XLOOKUP, IFS, pivot tables) Understanding of internal controls and risk management Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to learn new systems and adapt in a growing environment Excellent communication and interpersonal skills What We Offer Silver Birch Living offers a competitive benefits package including: Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage (BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois) Life Insurance and Long-Term Disability 401(k) plan Vacation and Sick Time On Demand Pay Professional development and growth opportunities #J-18808-Ljbffr Silver Birch Living
