Position Summary

Come be part of an interdisciplinary team that provides high quality therapy services (physical, occupational, speech, mental health, and behavioral therapy) focusing on contributing to the growth, independence, and quality of life of those we serve. The Mental Health Therapist provides therapeutic services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who may also present with co-occurring mental health needs. The therapist uses evidence-based and person-centered approaches to support clients in achieving improved emotional well-being, coping skills, and overall quality of life. Services may include individual, group, and family therapy, as well as collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and community partners.

• Pay: $55 per billable hour of service.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, and ongoing therapy for adults with IDD and co-occurring mental health conditions.
• Deliver individual, group, and family counseling using trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices.
• Develop treatment goals in collaboration with clients, families, and care teams to ensure person-centered planning.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including case managers, direct support professionals, medical staff, and other providers.
• Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation per agency and state/federal standards.
• Offer crisis intervention, de-escalation, and safety planning as needed.
• Participate in staff meetings, case consultations, and professional development activities.
• Advocate for client needs, rights, and access to appropriate community resources.
• Stay current on best practices in IDD and mental health treatment.

Qualifications

Required:

• Master's degree in social work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
• Current independent or clinical licensure (LCSW, LISW, LPCC, LMFT, or equivalent) in Kentucky.
• Experience providing therapy to individuals with IDD and/or co-occurring mental health diagnoses.
• Strong understanding of person-centered planning, positive behavior supports, and trauma-informed care.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.

Preferred:

• Training in evidence-based interventions (e.g., CBT, DBT, trauma-focused approaches, motivational interviewing).
• Experience working in community-based settings or interdisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of Medicaid, HCBS waivers, and IDD service systems.
