RN Position Job Notes:

Travel or Local Registered Nurse needed for ASAP start. A minimum of 2+ years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity for extension upon successful completion of the initial assignment. $750 referral bonus available.

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts with holidays and weekends as scheduled
• 3 weekend shifts required in a 4-week schedule (Saturday, Sunday, Saturday)
• Required to work holidays if needed
• Patient ratios of 1:3-4 (stepdown assignments are 1:3, combo assignments are 1:4)
• No call or standby requirements
• Floating would be very rare
• 3 shifts of unit orientation required
• Must have strong MedSurg stepdown experience
• Ability to titrate drips and read cardiac strips required
• Titrate drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Nitro, Esmolol, Heparin, and Lasix
• Interpret and chart patient rhythm with assessment every 4 hours
• Care for post-surgical thoracic and medicine patients
• Work with BiPap and tracheostomy patients (no ventilators)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Royal blue scrubs required
• EPIC charting system
• 2 shifts per 13-week contract cancellation policy

This major medical center operates a 32-bed stepdown unit providing specialized care for post-surgical thoracic and medicine patients. The facility features centralized telemetry monitoring with dedicated monitor technicians and maintains comprehensive cardiac care capabilities. The unit is well-staffed with charge nurses, house supervisors, and certified nursing assistants to support patient care, and utilizes advanced equipment including BiPap and telemetry monitoring systems.
