Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Outpatient Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Salinas, California.

This position is ideal for an RN with recent outpatient chemotherapy and infusion experience who is comfortable administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biologic therapies, and other infusion medications in an outpatient setting.

The RN will provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care to patients receiving scheduled infusion treatments. Candidates must have an active California RN license, current BLS certification, and an active ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy certification .

Recent Epic experience and hands-on outpatient infusion experience are important requirements for this position.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide direct nursing care to patients receiving outpatient infusion therapy.

· Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biologic agents, hydration therapy, blood products, and other prescribed infusions within scope of practice.

· Verify treatment plans, medication orders, patient identity, laboratory results, allergies, and treatment parameters before administration.

· Perform comprehensive pre-treatment patient assessments.

· Monitor patients throughout infusion therapy for adverse reactions, complications, and changes in clinical condition.

· Recognize and respond promptly to chemotherapy or infusion-related reactions.

· Initiate emergency interventions when necessary.

· Perform peripheral IV insertion and manage vascular access devices.

· Access, assess, maintain, and de-access implanted ports according to facility policy.

· Manage PICC lines and other central venous access devices as appropriate.

· Administer medications safely according to provider orders and established oncology protocols.

· Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans, medications, side effects, symptom management, and when to seek medical attention.

· Coordinate care with oncologists, pharmacists, advanced practice providers, laboratory staff, and other members of the healthcare team.

· Review laboratory values and treatment parameters before administering therapy.

· Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic .

· Follow chemotherapy safety standards, hazardous-drug handling requirements, infection-control procedures, and facility policies.

· Support continuity of care through clear communication and clinical handoffs.

· Float within similar departments or related clinical areas when needed and appropriately trained.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have:

· Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license

· Graduate of an accredited nursing program

· Current BLS / Healthcare Provider certification through the American Heart Association

· Current ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy certification

· Recent outpatient chemotherapy and infusion nursing experience

· Minimum 6–12 months of recent relevant experience within the past year

· Experience administering chemotherapy and infusion therapies in an outpatient environment

· Recent hands-on Epic experience

· Strong knowledge of chemotherapy safety and infusion nursing practices

Required Clinical Experience

Candidates should be comfortable with:

· Outpatient chemotherapy administration

· Peripheral IV insertion

· Implanted port access

· Central line care

· PICC line management

· Blood product administration

· Hydration therapy

Preferred Qualifications

· Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

· At least 1 year of RN experience in outpatient infusion, oncology, or a closely related specialty

· Previous travel nursing experience

· Experience in a high-volume outpatient infusion center

· Oncology nursing experience

· Strong vascular access skills

· Experience working with multidisciplinary oncology teams

· Willingness and ability to float within a related clinical cluster when needed

Schedule Requirements

· Day Shift

· Four 10-hour shifts per week

· 40 hours per week

· Department operates Monday through Friday, approximately 7:00 AM–5:30 PM

· Department is closed on weekends

· Exact shift times may vary within department operating hours.

· Flexibility to float within similar or related departments is highly desirable.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an experienced Outpatient Infusion RN or Oncology Infusion RN who can safely and independently manage patients receiving chemotherapy and other complex infusion treatments.

You should have strong assessment skills, excellent attention to medication safety, confidence managing infusion reactions, and the ability to educate and support patients throughout their treatment.
