Crime Victims' Attorney (Family Law)

The Crime Victims Center (CVC) is the leading provider of comprehensive trauma-informed victim support services to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, all violent crime, and elderly, minor, and disabled victims of property crime. The CVC has transformed the delivery of comprehensive trauma-informed victim services for crime victims through its National Association of Counties award-winning referral process. In addition, the organization provides sexual assault forensic examiner services and rape crisis counselor response for acute sexual assault victims who present at emergency departments. Role Description The Crime Victims’ Attorney (Family Law) will provide legal assistance to crime victims, with a focus on family law matters. Responsibilities include handling orders of protection, custody, visitation, and family offense proceedings, College Title IX hearings, U and T VISA, and other legal issues affecting victims and their rights, as well as serving as a legal advocate for victims during court appearances. Additional duties include conducting legal research, preparing court documents, and coordinating with other legal and social service providers to ensure comprehensive support for clients. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Syosset, NY. The candidate must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, have leadership skills, and a team player. Qualifications Admitted member in good standing of the New York State Bar required 1 year of prior relevant legal experience in family law Victim Support Services experience preferred Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Excellent public speaking skills, research, writing, analytical skills, organizational, planning, and time management skills Bilingual is a + but not required Must have a valid driver's license and use of a vehicle THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION, and remoting is not permitted.

HOURS, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Full-Time, Exempt with a requirement to work a minimum of 40 hours per week 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (may need to flex time to accommodate program needs) Benefits: 403b match, generous paid vacation, personal and sick days.
