Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer to join our Boston team and support the design and delivery of complex building projects throughout the state. Position Summary The Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer will be responsible for the design, coordination, and documentation of plumbing and fire protection systems for a variety of building types. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, experience working within multidisciplinary teams, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced consulting environment. Key Responsibilities Design plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage, natural gas, and specialty piping systems (Training can be provided) Design fire protection systems including wet pipe, dry pipe, standpipe, and pre-action systems in accordance with applicable codes and standards Prepare engineering calculations, reports, specifications, and construction documents Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, mechanical/electrical engineers, and external consultants Participate in project meetings, site visits, and construction administration activities Perform code analysis and ensure compliance with local, state, and national codes including NFPA, IBC, IPC, and Massachusetts amendments Support BIM/Revit modeling and interdisciplinary coordination efforts Review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals during construction phases Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, and technical quality control Mentor junior engineers and designers as needed Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field 5+ years of experience in plumbing and fire protection engineering within an A/E consulting environment Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months Strong knowledge of NFPA standards, IPC, IBC, and Massachusetts building codes Experience with Revit and AutoCAD required Familiarity with hydraulic calculation software and plumbing sizing programs Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively within project teams Preferred Experience Healthcare, laboratory, life sciences, higher education, or commercial high-rise project experience Experience coordinating with contractors and commissioning teams Familiarity with BIM 360 and cloud-based project collaboration tools What We Offer $100,00-$140,000 Competitive salary and performance bonus opportunities Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company contribution Hybrid work flexibility Professional development and licensing support Collaborative and growth-oriented work environment Opportunity to work on impactful and technically challenging projects Equal Opportunity Employer We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity in the workplace.
